So expect me to upload some "Ed Sullivan" during december. Each of the episodes star Mr Pelvis, who certainly lives up to his name, as well as some other acts who are not Mr Pelvis.

The Ed Sullivan shows aren't PD. Television was not covered under US Federal Copyright Law until the early 70s. Under NY law, broadcasting was not defined as publishing. Broadcasts and recordings of broadcasts were wiven a perpetual anti-piracy protection as "unpublished works". When the copyright laws were changed in the 70s these became protected as standard unpublished works (current term is 120 years from creation or 95 years from publication, whichever comes first).
Andrew Salt's SOFA entertainment has controlled the Ed Sullivan Show catalogue for years. The Elvis Episodes were registered as publised in 2002.

So the copyright won't expire until 1 Jan 2076 or 2077 at the earliest or 1 Jan 2098 at the latest.

But feel free to copy them for any of your friends in Australia or the UK. The flat 50 years from broadcast term expired at the begining of this year.

Does that mean that the "Studio One" and "Tales of Tomorrow" episodes have to be deleted?
